Overview of the Evergreen Parenting Garden Seminar

The Evergreen Parenting Garden course is a video-based parenting course created by Hettie Brittz and offered through Evergreen Parenting’s Online platform. It will guide you as a parent through a faith-based, temperament-focused approach to raising children in three distinct age phases. As a licensed facilitator I will support you as the parent in applying the principles by having 4 Zoom check-in sessions.

Journey through the Parenting Garden

The journey is divided into three age-specific courses. Each course combines pre-recorded video modules (totaling about 4–10 minutes each) with downloadable workbooks, reflection questions, and practical exercises.

  1. Tiny Trees (0–5 years)
    • Focus: Building a solid emotional, moral, and developmental foundation.
    • Topics Covered:
      • Normal milestones in physical, cognitive, emotional, and moral growth.
      • Creating a nurturing environment.
      • Parenting styles appropriate for infants and pre-schoolers.
      • Understanding temperament types (Palm Tree, Pine Tree, Boxwood, Rose Bush) and tailoring strategies accordingly.
      • Biblical examples of parenting during early childhood.
      • Communicating, disciplining with compassion, and celebrating growth.

  2. Tween Trees (6–11 years)
    • Focus: Guiding school-age children through social skill development, academic responsibilities, and character formation.
    • Topics Covered:
      • Recognizing shifts in social and emotional needs as kids enter formal schooling.
      • Establishing healthy routines, rules, and values.
      • Adjusting discipline techniques for increased independence.
      • Incorporating temperament insights to foster cooperation and responsibility.
      • Encouraging healthy peer relationships and preventing unwanted influences.

  3. Teen Trees (12 years and older)
    • Focus: Navigating adolescence by balancing autonomy with loving authority.
    • Topics Covered:
      • Supporting identity formation and self-esteem.
      • Setting and adjusting boundaries as teens grow.
      • Managing conflict, communication breakdowns, and peer influence.
      • Using temperament knowledge to understand why teens behave the way they do.
      • Equipping parents to disciple their teens biblically while fostering emotional resilience.

Each course is structured into 10–15 modules, covering everything from theory to real-world application. You choose the age category you want to enroll into.

How It Works

This is a guided, experience-based course designed to support real learning, reflection, and connection — all in a manageable rhythm for busy parents. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: Watch the Pre-Recorded Video Lessons

You’ll receive access to a set of short, practical video modules (each 4–10 minutes long), professionally presented by parenting expert Hettie Brittz.
Across the course, I will give you a guideline of the videos that you need to watch in a two week timeframe. In total it is around 5 hours of content per age-specific track — accessible anytime, at your own pace.

Step 2: Reflect with Workbooks & Personal Guides

The course comes with downloadable PDFs that include:

  • Simple summaries of key ideas
  • Reflection prompts
  • Action planning tools to help you apply what you’re learning in real life

These materials help deepen your insight and personalize the experience for your parenting context.

Step 3: Join the Live Zoom Sessions

Every two weeks, you’ll meet with your small group cohort and me (your facilitator) for a live Zoom session.
These 120-minute zoom sessions are where the learning comes alive — we unpack the video content together, share stories, ask questions, and learn from one another’s experiences.

It’s about real connection and growth — not just information.
