Support for Families Affected by Addiction

Support for families affected by addiction starts here.

Is someone you love or care about battling with addiction or addictive behaviour?

I know it changes your world too, but there is help!

Addiction does not just harm the person using — it deeply affects those around them.

As supporters of people battling with addiction we often experience:
Feelings of hopelessness
Emotional burnout
Hypervigilance and anxiety
Loss of identity or self-worth
Isolation and confusion

There is hope!

When You have Tried Everything… What is Left?

When someone you care about is stuck in addiction it can feel deeply frustrating — even hopeless — to watch someone you care about spiral through destructive patterns. Their choices do not only affect them. Their behaviour ripples through the family, impacting your emotions, relationships, peace and every aspect of life.
While it is vital that your loved one gets help, it is equally important to understand this truth:

You can NOT cure it

You can NOT control it and

You did NOT cause their addiction.

What you can do is take ownership of your own life. You can choose healing and begin your own recovery journey.

Often, it is in letting go of the need to fix or rescue them that space is created — and real transformation becomes possible, for both of you.

I want to help you do exactly that.

Can you relate to this statement?

It feels like I am caught in the debris of the storm — left to deal with the destruction — while he hides in the calm of the eye of the tornado”

It time to step out of the chaos and reclaim your own peace.

Have questions about support for families affected by addiction?

What Is the Resound Program?

Resound is a structured recovery support programme for supporters — the partners, parents, and loved ones affected by someone else’s addiction.

Resound is a practical, step-by-step journey in a group format that helps you reclaim your own wellbeing, understand the effects of addiction, and build healthy boundaries.

You will explore 13 powerful topics — from codependency and emotional intelligence to denial and self-worth — each designed to help you grow stronger, wiser, and more free.

Why Support in a Group Helps?

Healing happens faster when we are not alone.
In the group, you will connect with others who understand your situation without judgment.
You will gain perspective, feel supported, and often realise: “I am not the only one.”
Group members grow together, reflect together, and hold each other accountable in ways that individual work can not offer. The shared experience brings hope — and transformation.

Resound gives you tools.
The group gives you strength

Together, this creates lasting recovery for families affected by addiction.

What You Will Learn in Resound

Gain insight into addiction and the patterns of dysfunction it creates within families and relationships. Understanding these dynamics helps supporters make sense of their experience and begin making healthier, more grounded choices.

As supporters, we want to help — but sometimes our helping unintentionally keeps the cycle going. In this module, you will learn to recognise enabling behaviours and replace them with empowering responses that support healthier interactions and protect your own wellbeing.

By understanding codependency and learning how to build healthy, interdependent relationships, you can develop stronger boundaries, a clearer sense of self, and more balanced connections with others.

When addiction is present, relationships often fall into patterns of chaos and conflict. This module helps you recognise the unhealthy roles we tend to slip into and guides you toward calmer, more respectful ways of relating and communicating.

Denial can show up in many forms — in ourselves and in others. This module helps you understand how denial works and offers practical strategies for responding with clarity and honesty, without confrontation or control.

Learn the basics of recovery, including the stages of change and the importance of accountability and support. This module equips you as a supporter with insight and tools to navigate your own healing journey while understanding the broader recovery process.

Explore what a comprehensive recovery support programme looks like and why consistency matters. Sustainable change happens through intentional, ongoing effort — not quick fixes or crisis-driven reactions.

When living alongside addiction, it’s easy to lose yourself. This module helps you shift the focus back to your own life by creating a personal recovery plan — a clear, structured roadmap that brings direction, hope, and long-term wellbeing.

Rediscover your worth — not because of what you do for others, but because of who you are. This module helps you rebuild a stable sense of self that is not shaped by addiction, chaos, or others’ approval, but rooted in peace and self-respect.

Living with addiction often means suppressing your own emotions just to cope. This module helps you safely reconnect with your emotional world, teaching you to identify, manage, and express your feelings with greater clarity and care.

When addiction is present, boundaries often become blurred or broken. This module teaches you how to set and maintain clear, healthy boundaries that protect your wellbeing and foster more balanced, respectful relationships.

Gratitude is a powerful tool for recovery and resilience. This module helps you cultivate a practice of intentional thankfulness — even in difficult seasons — restoring emotional balance, strengthening hope, and bringing light into heavy spaces.

Frequently Asked Questions About Support for Families Affected by Addiction

You cannot control or cure a loved one’s addiction, but you can take care of yourself and learn healthier ways to respond. Support begins with understanding addiction, setting boundaries, and avoiding enabling behaviours. Many families benefit from structured support programmes that focus on the supporter’s own healing and emotional wellbeing.

Support for families affected by addiction includes recovery education, boundary-setting tools, emotional support, and guided group programmes for supporters. These programmes help families understand addiction, reduce burnout, and regain clarity and stability — even if the addicted person is not in recovery.

Yes. Family recovery does not depend on the addicted person changing first. Supporters can heal, regain emotional balance, and rebuild their lives regardless of whether their loved one seeks help. In many cases, healthier boundaries and changes within the family system can positively influence the overall dynamic.

Supporter recovery is the process of healing for partners, parents, and loved ones affected by someone else’s addiction.

Resound is a guided small-group recovery programme for supporters — the spouses, parents, siblings, and friends of those affected by addiction. It’s not just emotional support — it’s a structured journey that helps you understand addiction, build healthy boundaries, and reclaim your own life.

You will gain more than insight — you will gain freedom.
Resound helps you break the cycle of reacting, rescuing, and carrying what is not yours to fix.
You will learn how to set healthy boundaries, reclaim your identity, and find meaning in your relationships again — not through control, but through growth.
It is not just about surviving what your loved one is going through — it is about recovering your own peace, purpose, and personal power.

Anyone who feels overwhelmed, drained, or stuck because of a loved one’s addiction. Whether you’re trying to help your spouse, child, parent, or friend — this programme is for you.

Sharing is always encouraged but never forced. This is a safe space. You will never be pressured to say anything you are not ready to. Many participants find that what they choose to share brings unexpected healing — and helps others too.

That is okay. Resound is for you. Healing does not depend on them changing first. When you take steps to reclaim your life, it can shift the entire dynamic — and sometimes even inspire their recovery too.

Absolutely. While the programme is faith-informed and often run through churches or ministries, it is designed for anyone open to growth, recovery, and personal healing — regardless of religious background.

Yes. Resound is designed for supporters. Your healing does not depend on your loved one choosing recovery. When you focus on your own wellbeing, boundaries, and growth, it can shift the entire family dynamic — and sometimes even inspire change, but without pressure or control.

When a loved one struggles with addiction, the entire family system is affected — not just the individual. You may not have caused the addiction, but you are still impacted emotionally, mentally, and even physically by the stress, fear, and uncertainty it brings.
Participating in a program like Resound is not about blaming you — it’s about equipping you.
It gives you the tools to:
Set healthy boundaries without guilt
Communicate with clarity and compassion
Manage your own emotional well-being
Avoid enabling behaviors that can unintentionally prolong the struggle
Rebuild trust, hope, and resilience in your own life
Healing starts with support — not blame.
By strengthening yourself, you not only protect your own heart, but you also become a healthier support for your loved one’s recovery journey.
You matter. Your healing matters.
If you feel ready to take your healing even further, I also offer one-on-one Recovery Coaching to support your personal journey.

The group meets once a week for about 2 hours. At that pace, the full programme takes approximately 24 weeks to complete. This slower rhythm allows for deeper reflection and more manageable integration into your life.

You don’t have to wait — and there’s no need to catch up.

Resound is designed in a rotational (circular) format, which means the group is ongoing and you can join at any time. You’ll begin with a one-on-one or small group Orientation, then join the main group where they are in the cycle.

Each session covers a standalone topic, so you’ll never feel behind. Over time, you’ll complete all 13 modules and experience the full programme.

Your journey starts when you’re ready — not when the calendar says so.

The programme costs R1500 per month for 6 months, which includes weekly 2-hour group sessions, all 13 digital workbooks, and personal support from a trained facilitator.

While private coaching or therapy can cost far more, Resound offers a structured recovery journey at an affordable rate — and you won’t be walking it alone.

You’ll be surrounded by like-minded people who understand, and guided by someone who gets what you’re going through.

This isn’t just support — it’s transformation with direction, in a safe space where healing happens together.

If finances are tight, don’t let that stop you. We offer limited sponsorships and flexible payment plans because we believe that healing should be accessible.

Reach out. We’ll do our best to help you start the journey.
